Ostara is a pagan celebration honouring the return of spring and light. It is celebrated at the vernal equinox, when the day and the night are equal. It is a time for honouring or summoning the Germanic goddess Ostara, or Eostre, her Saxon equivalent. Two of the most present symbols referring to this celebration are the egg, symbol of rebirth and fecundity and the rabbit, which represents the renewing of the earth's fertility. This is a good time for fertility and abundance rituals. Flowers of course have a big place in this feast. Amongst them, the daffodil (Narcissus pseudonarcissus) and the lily (here Lilium orientalis). it is a tradition to place the seeds we plan to sow during the season on the altar so they can be blessed.
